August was a huge month for Wandin Valley. Through three important regional wine shows; the Hunter Valley Wine Show, the NSW Small Winemakers Show, and the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards, Wandin Valley won no fewer than two trophies, six gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

Our annual pruning of the 'Members' Block' Ruby Cabernet was held on Saturday 1 August and what a stunning day it was! After the disastrous last two picking days it was fantastic to see that someone from above was smiling sweetly.

Due to popular demand we found ourselves back at this great venue... and I can see why! I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that the food was outstanding and the accompanying wines were brilliant.

Saturday the 12th of July was the annual Member’s Pruning Day. We managed to attract around 20 hardened pruners, who snipped, hacked, and pulled their way through the Member’s Block Ruby Cabernet.

This recipe was a runner up in our September newsletter; it was impossible to go past it with the weather warming up! It would make a great addition to any summer lunch or dinner. The suggested wine match is a bottle of our 2007 Verdelho or the very scarce 2003 Reserve Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula. The lucky winners will receive an additional 2 nights mid week accommodation in Winery Cottage and a six pack of 2007 Verdelho. Well done!

The Member’s Block Ruby Cabernet is ripening rapidly despite all the rain! We are seeking 30 hard working men and women to give as hand to pick, and of course, stomp our Ruby Cabernet.In addition to the picking and the stomping, we will share a ploughman’s lunch with plenty of great wines.Saturday evening, you are invited to dine with the Winemakers at Mojo’s Restaurant on Wilderness Rd.
