I would like to congratulate the first winners of our Greatest Cork Club Cook competition, Stephen and Susie Burnet, who submitted this fantastic recipe for Sydney Rock oysters matched with an aged Wandin Valley Reserve Semillon. The Burnet’s have won an additional two night’s mid-week accommodation at Winery Cottage and a six pack of our 2006 Single Vineyard Semillon. Well Done! We are once again seeking submissions for the Greatest Cork Club Cook with the winner announced in the next Cork Club News. Remember, the wine you match the dish with will be the one we send as your prize.

Please put the Cork Club on your list of organizations to advise when you renew your credit card or move to a new credit card. You will have my eternal gratitude rather than my infernal blaspheming each quarter when I am organizing the wine shipment.

After the great performance by members in 2006, Vineyard Manager Scott Ling has decided to hand over the pruning of all the member’s block to club members.Again, we will limit the number of vine pruners to about 20 so contact me quickly to register. Team Baxter have already registered.

Despite having to stay and hold the fort at Wandin Valley, I am reliably informed by some of those who attended the Sunday Lunch at Pony Dining that it was a great way to while away a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all the members who attended which included amongst others Stuart Baxter and family, the Murphys, Ron Thomson & friends, the Rippons, Ellen Singleton, Lorraine Van der Weide, the Mangolds and yes… you who I have forgotten once again. My apology, I will try to better next time.
