Snip & Sip 2008: The Member’s Pruning Day |
|
Saturday the 12th of July was the annual Member’s Pruning Day. We managed to attract around 20 hardened pruners, who snipped, hacked, and pulled their way through the Member’s Block Ruby Cabernet.
Following such a wet growing season, the vines had established very strong canes making the task even more difficult; so by the end of a row or two each we were ready to eat! Chef Robert Bujka created a couple of great soul-warming soup options, including a traditional Hungarian Beef Goulash. Over lunch we enjoyed a selection of fine Wandin Valley wines, and all put our hands in the air (photo below) for an “Options Game” to start the proceedings! Who would have guessed it would be a Dr Loosen German Riesling?!
Following lunch, an extremely competitive Petanque tournament was played out – with the Horny Bumble Bees defeating the Manly Maniacs for the trophy! Thank you Members for your hard work, and for making Snip and Sip 2008 such a great success!
