New Release: 2009 SLA Semillon |
|
At Wandin Valley we continue to explore the potential of the great hunter white grape variety Semillon. While we have traditionally produced dry, acid driven Semillons with great purity and finesse, we were keen to try as the Germans (and more recently the New Zealanders) do with Riesling, and make a sweeter, low alcohol style.
To produce this wine, we harvested the Semillon when the flavours developed, but before the acidity started to drop away too much. We then fermented the wine to the point where the palate struck a delicate balance between sweetness, acidity and alcohol. In stopping the ferment early, the wine has a lower alcohol content of 8% and at 34 grams per litre residual sugar, the SLA Semillon is described as 'semi-sweet'.
Ideally served as an aperitif or with fresh seafood, the SLA Semillon is proving to be a very popular wine. If this sounds like something that you would like to sample, we can freight a case out to you for the special price of $175.00 (RRP $18) – don’t miss out on this one!!
