Due to the traumatic vintage conditions we were forced to cancel this year’s Pick, Stomp & Munch. However, the winemakers put their heads together and came up with a new exercise, Sit, Sip & Eat. The day started with a blending exercise in the morning to determine the final make-up of the 2007 Member's Block Ruby Cabernet, followed by a judging competition. We originally planned for this to be a friendly exercise but when push came to shove and bragging rights were at stake, we had a fierce competition on our hands.

The Baxter’s where blending away quietly in the corner, Dan and Lianne had some interesting blends, Geoff and Sharon where odds on favourite being the judges parents, but it was the Mangold family (our website guru’s) who came out on top with their blend of Ruby Cabernet/Shiraz/Merlot that won over the judges. The most interesting blends of the day went to the girls from Cronulla, with a Sparkling Muscat and a Semillon/Muscat blend; sorry girls they just didn’t cut it this year.

Next year hopefully we will have some fruit to pick so we can hold the Pick, Stomp & Munch. I would like to thank everyone who made the trip upto Wandin Valley for the day and would encourage all members to attend next year as the fun never stops at Wandin Valley after a few wines!!
