This was a fantastic evening incorporating amazing food, perfectly matched wine, wonderful company and great conversation.
Our 'mystery' or 'options' wine caused a lot of discussion on the evening and obviously had a few people stumped. The wine that Matt chose for this year's dinner was the 2006 Domaine Ogier Condrieu (a French Viognier).
This game is always a lot of fun and certainly got people offering various comments about the wine. There always has to be a winner and this year it happened to be Aaron Burton (wonder if there was some insider trading happening here!). Aaron won himself a magnum of the 2005 Bridie's Reserve Shiraz.
Head chef at Milsons, Lee Kwiez, describes his style as 'fresh Australian' and creates food in a contemporary manner. The combination of a wonderful menu along with many outstanding wines from the Wandin Valley portfolio made the evening a memorable one. One of the highlights from the menu would have to be the 'Wandin Valley Estate Muscat ice cream'…sensational!
Most of the members, who attended the dinner, took advantage of the Milson's Dinner wine offer and placed an order on the evening. In doing so, they were in the running for a great prize, which included a 2 night stay in Winery Cottage, 18 holes of golf at Cypress Lakes plus a 2005 Bridie's Reserve Shiraz Magnum.
I can now advise that the winner of the Milson's Dinner prize was Kerry Baxter - Congratulations! Kerry seems to be on a winning streak as she also won the prize at our Annual lunch at Pony.
